PHILIPPINES WINS TOP AWARD AT THE BRUSSELS FILMFEST-2006






At the closing gala of the 33rd International Festival of Independent Film held on November 12, 2006 in Brussels, Gina Pareno of the Philippines won the best actress award for her title role in Jeffrey Jeturian’s film “Kubrador” (The Bet Collector).

The other major awards went to the following films: top prize for all categories to Taiwan’s “Blue Cha Cha” directed by Wen-Tang Cheng, best director and best actor to Angola’s “The Hero” by Zeze Gamboa, best special film and screenplay to India’s “Hasina” by Girish Kasaravalli and best script to Iran’s “The Forbidden Chapter” by Fariborz Kamkari.
